in the sky

While sitting in my apartment last Friday afternoon I heard a familiar rumble. When I realized it wasn't the L train (we live right next to the tracks) I grabbed my camera and ran to the window. Those crazy planes were back!!

Really it's the air and water show... but to us it's just the air show since we don't have a view of the lake. I've been living in the city since I was 18 but I have never been to this weekend festival. But who needs to go when you can see it all from your apartment? Well... the most exciting parts anyway.

It's a really cool thing to witness. Especially if you live in the city. You're just doing your normal everyday thing then - WOAH.... a loud wooosh rips through the sky and it's gone before you even have time to look up.

It's really, really loud.

Definitely a good weekend to visit the Sears Tower Willis Tower sky-deck.

neat.

  4. Great photos! And props for still labeling it as the Sears Tower. ^-^ I think my favorite pic is the third one down: the four planes in the clear, very very blue sky. Pretty!

    1. Thanks! We still call it the Sears Tower like no name change ever took place, hahaha. Plus I figured if I only called it Willis Tower most people who don't live in Chicago would have no idea what I was talking about! Maybe? I don't know. I love the photo of the four planes too. They go very fast so when I got that photo I was pretty happy!

  5. Remarkable that you could catch them at all due to speed and distance yet still have detailed shots. Another benefit of big city living. Next year I'll buy tikets from you guys for the show. Maybe we could put a big sign on the roof top - "smile you are on YB&M" or something. Enjoyed photos.

    1. Thank you! I have a lot of plane-less photos where I was too slow to capture them, hahaha. It would be a lot of fun to watch from the roof! I can't believe we've never done it before!!
